Dr. Barbara J Dunn, DVM

Dr. Barbara J Dunn, DVM:

Dr. Dunn is originally from Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She received her Bachelor of Zoological Science from the University of Oklahoma, and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University.

Dr. Dunn owns The Family Pet Clinic in Ardmore, a practice that focuses on the health and wellbeing of cats, dogs, birds, pocket pets, and reptiles. 

She moved to Ardmore in 1989, where she was an associate veterinarian at Town and Country Animal Hospital for eight years.

In 1996, she and her husband, Dr. Doug Nightengale, founded The Family Pet Clinic. The small animal clinic on the north end of town and together they own and operate Large Animal Veterinary Services on Highway 70 in Ardmore.

She is a current board member of the Southern Oklahoma Community Arts Association. Dr. Dunn is a former Ardmore Family YMCA board member and president. In addition, she has served as a planning commissioner for the city of Ardmore, and as a member of the Governor’s task force for the study of the impact of the fire ant on Oklahoma agriculture.

Dr. Dunn is also a former member of the Board of Admissions of Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, attending conferences and continuing education annually. In addition to her extra curricular activities she is a member of the University of Oklahoma alumni band.

Barbara and Doug have three children, Seth (married to Annie), Wil and Emma. They have two grandchildren, Henry and Scarlett. She and her family are active members of the First Presbyterian Church Ardmore, where Dr. Dunn is a member of the choir as well as a Sunday school teacher.

 

Dr. Jacob Rother, DVM

Dr. Jacob Rother, DVM

Dr. Rother, an Ardmore native, joined the Family Pet Clinic in July 2024.

Dr. Rother is a graduate of Plainview High School. He tested the waters as an electrician before working as a veterinary assistant and finding his calling to work with animals.  He then went on to Oklahoma State University to complete his undergraduate studies.  Once completed he furthered his education by attending OSU to become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

Before joining The Family Pet Clinic, Dr. Rother worked at a small animal practice in Edmond, Oklahoma.  He moved back to his hometown of Ardmore with his wife and three children.  Two dogs and one cat also reside in the Rother home.

In his free time outside of the clinic he enjoys watching war movies, woodworking, marksmanship, fishing, and completing handyman projects.  Afterwards, you might just catch him eating a good hamburger or chocolate ice cream!
